Single Handed Use of N900 Hardware Keyboard is Not Possible. #33

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
QIMSYS 2011-02-06

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Hold something in one hand so you can't use it to type.
2. Try and input characters using the other hand on the hardware keyboard while
holding the n900 in the air.

What is the expected output?
Without requiring a 2nd hand at any point you can switch to and from type all
of the following on the hardware keyboard including:
- numbers/symbols (labeled on the keys)
- romaji
- katakana
- hiragana

What do you see instead?
qimsys breaks the modifier keys so you have to press 2 keys simultaneously for
many inputs on the hardware keyboard which requires 2 free hands.

I still expect to have to use a virtual keyboard for symbols not labeled on the
keypad. ie) > < |

I also expect to have to switch back and forth between input modes by using the
touch screen.

I should have been more specific on steps to reproduce the problem as typing
many characters are not a problem. However if you want to type any of the
following from the hardware keyboard it is difficult/impossible using only 1
hand and holding the n900 in the air with that same hand and QIMSYS enabled:
- capital letter
- number
- symbol
- katakana (when in hiragana mode)

More Info:
Another thing that I would like to see fixed that was never working on the
hardware keys is sticky control c (copy) and sticky control v (paste). I don't
think this even works in Hildon input method.
