I think that would be a great feature of Qmmp. A media library plugin (or this
feature integrated into main program) in which user could pick his music
folder(s)
and make Qmmp monitor them for new songs (user could choose whether scanning
would be
started every time program is launched, once a day etc) it would have been
really great.

My primary reason for using qmmp is that it looks and behaves like Winamp,
which is
the only thing I miss since moving from Windows to Linux. The only major thing
Qmmp
is missing really is the media library. I can understand this is a fairly major
task,
but I'm glad you've accepted it!

Alternatively qmmp could rely upon an external media library handler such as
METHLAB and just interact with it through d-bus.

that's what i'm currently doing with audacious, i'd love to see it enabled for
qmmp too, then it would become my media player of choice, no doubts about it !

I too think that this would be a great enhancement!

Here straightforward implementation for METHLAB http://pastebin.com/VZJjKvFC
It just uses command line interface of QMMP.
To use it you need to save code from link above in file (e.g. qmmp.py) and
place it in drivers folder of METHLAB (./methlab/pymethlab/drivers/).
