Impossibility to type some accented characters like ^ with some fonts type #1417

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Chose PT Mono (or Courrier) font in the Editor settings
2. Choose/keep UTF8 font encoding
3. In any .tex document, try to type the '^' character

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
for instance : "â ê ô" or simply "$x^n$" gives "a e o" and "xn"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Texmaker 4.3
(compiled with Qt 5.2.1 and Poppler 0.24.0)
Copyright (c) 2003-2014 by Pascal Brachet
on Mac OS X 10.10 and Mac OS X 10.9

Please provide any additional information below.
This problem only appears for most monospaced fonts style in the Editor settings

??? The font for the editor is only for the editor (while typing). You seem to
make a confusion with the encoding declared in the latex preamble of the
document.
And if you use utf8 as encoding in the preamble of your document, you must use
a real unicode font for the editor. See latex documentation about that.

Actually, in my example, in the editor (and not the generated pdf) I should
have "â ê ô" while typing but i just get "a e o". I think I've found why and
it seems not related to Texmaker as it also happen with Word. I went to the
keyboard setting and disabled every user defined shortcuts starting with the
'^' character. The problem is solved.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I think this issue can just be deleted.

Best regards

Finally no. I am still facing this erratic problem. I am writing an article and
sometime, while typing, '^' and '~' characters just don't work inside the
texmaker editor. I have to close the document and re-open it back.
