Texmaker ignores LC_MESSAGES?

Good day.

I'm not sure that this is a specific texmaker problem (or, really, much of a 
problem at all I guess) but I'm running into some locale-weirdness.

I'm on Linux Mint 17 MATE (which is at its base Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) and, being 
dutch, have my locale set to "nl_NL.UTF-8". This gets things such as the 
time/date format, papersize, measurement-units and what have you setup right by 
default. However, like many in the Netherlands, and especially on the 
command-line, I abhor my computer also trying to speak Dutch to me, both by 
design and by atrociousness of many translations, and have therefore overridden 
LC_MESSAGES to "en_US.UTF-8". This setup works to have both command-line and 
all my GUI-apps speak English to me, including presenting English menus, and 
even including the "do-it-yourself-gui" apps Firefox and Thunderbird -- except 
for texmaker, which is still fully in Dutch. 

As mentioned, I'm a MATE user (whence a GTK user) and am as such not all that 
sure if this is a specific texmaker- or a less specific QT-issue; texmaker is 
the only QT app I use. I suppose some might also consider it a bit of an 
offside locale setup; many people over here in NL at least, and certainly Linux 
users, share my dislike of local LC_MESSAGES though...

IS this a specific texmaker issue? I.e., does it perhaps check LANG (only) 
instead of going through a locale API? And if so, could this perhaps be changed?

... which is what you get when you in Debian/Ubuntu/Mint set the system locale 
to nl_NL.UITF-8 through the GUI configuration apps, and then override 
LC_MESSAGES (and LC_COLLATE, but that's a different issue) in 
/etc/default/locale.

Strangely, starting texmaker while manually overriding LANG as 
"LANG=en_US.UTF-8 texmaker" still keeps it in Dutch. What DOES it check? ...

Only now ran into "Interface Language" in the Options menu. I see. Would've 
certainly not posted if I had seen that before, but seeing as how it seems 
something (not me...) decided to set it to Dutch by default, perhaps this is 
still semi-useful in the sense of a developer looking at the locale stuff?

Or perhaps not. The very existence of said option probably means that automatic 
interface language selection was deemed undesirable (or clumsy, on Linux and in 
environments based on other toolkits) at some point. I'll expect this to be 
closed; sorry for not looking better before-hand.
