Current version lists types of software that can be recorded in CRIS as:

Open-source software
Closed source software for which executables can be made available
Software projects which are unable to make any outputs available, but which can be publicly acknowledged
Software projects which can not be publicly disclosed

We could achieve more clarity if we can make use of Software Citation Implementation Working Group classification:

Open source/closed source
Published/Unpublished
Version/Concept and describe metadata which authors should specify dependently on the combination of these parameters.
