@davekiss mentioned in Cleveland Tech Slack log on 3/23/18:

I'll backtrack a bit to post an update to this channel on what happened after my rant last summer about a tech-agnostic organization

@anthony and I had a few calls and meetings that tailed off after I think I realized that #codecleveland was still a bit more cornered into tech than I was looking to establish and after we both agreed we might be making up certain problems to solve (see: codecleveland.org and github.com/codecleveland/manifesto)

Specifically, I believe tech-specific meetup groups are doing just fine here and have their own role they play in the community

It also encountered a scope creep and quickly ballooned into something much greater than I could ever support on my own (ie. the childcare idea, which I love, but know nothing about as I don't have children)

Anyway, probably more detail than required to explain

Anyway, I took a step back to think about what I was really interested in exploring and I think it's ultimately talking with folks that contribute to the internet in some capacity

I'm instead pushing effort on We Make the Internet (meetup.com/make-the-internet) where I'm planning for the group to learn from different companies and individuals in the Cleveland area that have some sort of story they might share about their online contributions, whether it's something about their workflow, their approach to a specific project they had to tackle, their tech stack, something they recently learned etc.

This is all probably more than y'all care to know but just wanted to share! Got some good things lined up for this year, feel free to join up if interested

I still think there's room for a dev-oriented, tech-agnostic group, and certainly don't want to discourage the idea of others picking up and rolling with something different

But, just wanted to be clear about the intention there
