October user survey results #201

It'd be good to write this up and post the findings / responses in a visible place, particularly because it supplements our quantitative metrics with more granular qualitative evidence that people like it.

Absolutely. In fact, I'd like to share those results this Saturday (11/7) at Civic Design Camp in NYC.

Over about 10 days, we sent 177 unique Balance users a text message response including the surveys solicitation. Of the 177 users solicited, 23 initiated the survey by texting another number, and 17 completed a short four question survey. That’s a 12.9% response rate and 9.6% completion rate, respectively.

Questions

Responses have been combined into general answers based on similar wordings and meaning

Hi! Thanks for your time. 1st Question: When do you check your EBT balance? Before shopping? On the bus? At the store?

Before shopping - 47.06% - 8 On the bus - 11.76% - 2 While at the store - 17.65% - 3 Before leaving the house - 5.88% -1 After each use - 5.88% - 1 Other - 11.76% - 1


Before this service how did you usually check your EBT balance? With receipts? By calling on the phone? Something else?

Phone - 41.18% - 7 Receipts - 23.53% - 4 Online - 11.76% - 2 Other - 23.53% - 4


How can we make this text message service better?

Good/Great, no suggestions - 70.59% - 13 Free text without wifi - 1 Stop asking questions- 1 Other - 2


Is it okay if we call you later if we have a couple more questions?

Yes - 41.8% - 7

Do we have qualitative data for the "other" responses? I'm curious what those represent.
