Update documentation to be useful and add CONTRIBUTING.md #15

Right now the documentation for the project's purpose, features and timeline is pretty non-existent.

Also, it isn't clear how to have the community get involved.

i think we have to build more before we can realistically expect outside contributions. you need a certain amount of critical mass, and at this point it makes more sense for us to focus on JFDI.

That said, basic documentation is always good. Just get writing :)
