Example text: "We're sorry, but the CityVoice system appears to be down right now. Please try calling back at a later time. You can report this problem by e-mailing the team at southbend at codeforamerica d0t org."
(We could alternately funnel to the web site, but it might be down if this error is playing.)
I've recorded a quick-and-dirty version and thrown it on production for now, just because the application error thing is so effing jarring.
You can give it a listen here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/south-bend-cityvoice-abandoneds/fallback.mp3
Closing for now since my mp3's acceptable; can reopen if need more.
Twilio allows us to provide a custom message to replace "I'm sorry, an application error has occurred."
It would be really good to record a voice message that:
If we wanted to go hard on this front, we could even provide a phone number for a micro-app to call where they can leave a message describing the problem, but I think a first-cut with just the e-mail would be great.
Let's discuss, but I think getting this recorded along with the others coming up is a priority, since the technical implementation is very simple and it really saves the experience in a catastrophic error state.
