"What is CityVoice?": one-liner + overview #195

Open daguar opened 10 years ago

Ideally, for people coming to the project we'd have:

  1. A one-liner describing what CityVoice lets you do
  2. A brief overview that gives someone a sense of what CityVoice is useful for, what it does/doesn't do, and what they'll need to do to use it — ideally in 30 seconds to a minute

Here's my first stab at a one-liner:

CityVoice lets you collect location-based feedback from community members via the telephone and organizes this feedback in a user-friendly web interface.

Note I'm framing it as "what capabilities do you get" rather than "what is the web app" because I think this is most useful.

@cydharrell and @lanebecker — would love your thoughts/input on this. and cc @migurski

Lots to like. There might be an ambiguity in that if you don't know what CV does, your existing referent for "collect feedback by telephone" might be a phone survey that you have to conduct. How about...

CityVoice lets you collect location-based feedback voicemails from community members and organizes the recordings in a user-friendly web interface.

(Maybe?) But throw it in front of someone unfamiliar with CV soon.

Is “location-based” too jargony?

CityVoice lets you collect community member feedback and voicemails about places in your city, and organizes the recordings in a user-friendly web interface.

I like! Is "voicemail" giving anyone else a weird connotation? Feels like it diminishes the coolness of our listening interfaces.

?

CityVoice lets you collect community member feedback and voicemails in their own words about places in your city, and organizes the recordings in a user-friendly web interface.

Hrm, here's what I'm evolving toward:

CityVoice lets you collect community feedback with an inclusive and easy-to-use medium — the telephone — and gives you a friendly web interface for exploring the results.

An out-loud suggestion when Dave and I talked, recorded here:

CItyVoice lets you collect community feedback easily from anyone by telephone, and gives you a friendly map interface for exploring the results.

CityVoice lets any resident submit feedback on hyper-local questions by voicemail, and gives you a friendly map interface for exploring the results.

CityVoice lets residents participate in hyper-local public decisions by voicemail, and shows you the results on a friendly map.
