How do HTTP Servers & DNS/routing actually work? #3

I have no idea if this is not appropriate for this group, but something I'd love to learn more about is how HTTP servers work, maybe including:

What are practical differences between nginx and apache?
How can you set up efficient web servers?
What should be handled by the web server vs. something like gunicorn?
How do these relate to DNS if at all?
What are different types of DNS records? When do you use them?

Maybe more of a network osmosis, but I’d be happy to participate in this and offer what I can. Could also be a fine conversation topic for dev meetup?
