not clear which filters are applied #116

in three ways...

  1. Indication of what filter values are selected is too subtle. I liked the bright yellow highlight in earlier iterations. It was ugly, but made it crystal clear what was selected.

  2. If I click a category on one of the Filter by .... charts, it's not clear which charts and tables are affected.

  3. I can apply multiple filters and there's no one place where I can see every filter that's selected. This can be confusing because I can't see all of the filter charts on the page at the same time. So if I select Pre-trial in the Status chart and drugs in the Description chart... I can't see both those selections on screen at the same time.

I would also add...

  1. It's not clear that the filter charts are interactive. There's no familiar interface element that indicates that you can interact. If you don't know that you can click on an item in the legend to filter by it, you'll have to be told.
  2. The Clear ... filters buttons should change state when there are filters that they can clear.

All valuable feedback! I'll likely break a couple of these into separate issues (I think showing which filters have been applied is one, and adding clarity to the buttons is another)
