+@cydharrell, since there are some important UX questions raised here.
Yes please cyd. The above is based on a convo I had w Ans months ago, but would love to have a stronger thought process here.
Still need to align Ohanapi.org and openreferral.org Probably more work to be done on the OpenReferral.org site.
For starters, for Ohanapi.org, how about A) text that says something like:
Ohana is the free / open source 'reference implementation' for the Open Referral Initiative, which is developing a new exchange format for community resource data. Open Referral is:
The Ohana platform can help you quickly demonstrate the value of opening community resource data in a standardized format. Go to OpenReferral.org to learn more about the Open Referral Initiative.
B) We also discussed having two banners up top -
Software developers: Build the Ohana Platform (Github) Community leaders: Shape the Open Referral standard (OpenReferral.org)
OR there could be an Open Referral flag that simply complements the current 'Fork Me on Github' flag. It could be like 'Learn about Open Referral'
All of the above could be improved but I just want this to move forward, so it's a start.
(A) Text has been added to ohanapi.org. I'd suggest we consider closing this repo down to reduce the number of sites with ohana/open referral information. See https://github.com/codeforamerica/ohanapi.org/issues/7
Among other edits, we want to explain (with both text and visual) the relationship between Ohana and Open Referral.
For example, we discussed a banner that says: Are you a software developer? --> Build the Platform (Github) Are you a community leader? --> Shape the Standard (OpenReferral.org)
We also want a segment of the vertical scroll that explains the relationship between Ohana and Open Referral (and links either to CfA's page or the OpenReferral.org or both). I can get text for that when you're ready.
Finally, we have new apps using Ohana. Able to give you logos when ready.
