Notes from Jan 19th meetup (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1umKrOsfxzG9ZSrLerxP9NQIOkeBh1zzHJRYSiEdb4CM):

SAME Cafe - are open on Saturdays - confirmed Denver Voice - would like to write about it -> going to send them more info Farmers Union -> local economy how to connect consumers to producers/services that support the local economy

  1. Connecting customers with local co-op/employee-owned businesses
  2. Raising awareness regarding the impact that cooperatives have on community wealth and a resilient economy
  3. Providing cooperative businesses and ESOPS a way to market themselves to consumers and convey their competitive edge, with education and distinction, to establish loyal patronage Food: 4 problems Growhaus -> don’t want to be sole nonprofit - haven’t confirmed challenges from GrowHaus and the Garden: Getting food from small-scale local farmers to small-scale local retailers (such as corner stores) Accessing information about locally-adapted plants for planting perennial polycultures that function as "edible ecosystems" Connecting residents of a neighborhood interested in sharing produce, eggs, skills, etc with each other Connecting available land (urban and rural) to farmers (urban and rural): eg when a person who owns land is willing to have someone else farm it, but cannot find a way to find someone
