Regular clean data feed from DPS / GIS #134

I'm talking on Friday to a guy who works for the City of Durham in the Neighborhood Improvement Services dept and may be able to help us access data sets. Is there anything we need reg walk zones, priority zones etc?

I think we have all of the phase I data as a snapshot, but we do not have feeds that update when zones change. We could also push the data portal folks to try to get us access to feeds as well. I'm less certain on the status of Phase II data, but @jtf621 probably has more insight.

Sarah,

It would be helpful if you could find out who in the Durham system sets up the School information in the Durham GIS site.

I would like to find out the update schedule for the information and where some of the zone info is maintained.

Also you could ask if there are any plans to open up more data from DPS in the near future.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for this. John unfortunately didn't seem to know much at all about the DPS data but had good insights on how to bring DPS on board. He suggested that we meet with someone on the leadership team to share the concept, get their feedback on how School Navigator can be a resource for them, and then once we have that buy-in at the top start asking for specific data requests.

I think that approach makes a lot of sense and will follow up with Drew Cummings to figure out who the right person is to talk to. This seems like a meeting that should take place in person.

Who would be interested in meeting with someone on the DPS leadership team to share our vision for School Navigator and discuss how this could be an asset for them?
