I don’t want to overload Click That ’Hood with too many sharing options because too many options is inherently bad for the user. There’s a reason there’s no Google+ sharing there either.
E-mail is “old-school” and it’s typically 1:1. We want to promote sharing using newer, broadcast methods.
E-mail is not as well integrated as the other sharing methods. If your mail is not set up properly, the mailto: link will fizzle rather than pointing to your mail client.
I’m open to changing my mind if you have any numbers showing that sharing by email is actually effective. :·)
