Feature: Linux version #46

Are there any plans to release a linux version of ILEditor 2?

worksofliam commented 4 years ago

Absolutely possible - but not on our roadmap right now. Defo would be awesome to support it though!

Will discuss with Connor.

Very excited about this.

jonii-dev commented 4 years ago

I am very excited about this as well! Would be nice to have a reasonable RPG IDE on Linux :)

We've got a couple of things to fixup before we add it to the website as an official link, but you can get the Linux version in the latest release section over here https://github.com/halcyon-tech/ileditor2-issues/releases/tag/v0.6.1

I think we've published a few updates since then so you'll have to give it a moment to download the latest update :) we have another update coming out very soon

worksofliam commented 3 years ago

@connorholyday are we doing Linux builds every time we make a release now?

Is this issue still needed?

Perhaps we need to add a Linux button to the platform and the website?

connorholyday commented 3 years ago

We need to add a linux button and I think the linux version is missing the app icon

richardm90 commented 3 years ago

What is the latest Linux build?

I currently have 0.7.5 installed.

connorholyday commented 3 years ago

I think 0.7.6

richardm90 commented 3 years ago

How do I get the latest version?

connorholyday commented 3 years ago

I think we've got "Check for updates" under the menu, if not you should be able to close and re-open the app and that will trigger an update check

richardm90 commented 3 years ago

I've never been able to get the check for updates to work under Linux. In the past I've always needed a link to the github release assets.

connorholyday commented 3 years ago

Seems like our updater is broken 🤔 looking into this

connorholyday commented 3 years ago

We've fixed the auto updater and the linux version links are now on the website! The latest version is 0.8 and you'll have to download it manually this time but then it should be business as usual moving forward :)
