Agenda for new members:

• Introductions (retention leadership team + new members)
• Sign-up on Intake form, Slack, Github (Waffle.io) etc.
• Current projects in the pipeline & roles we're recruiting
• Ideation Bootcamp for new projects (research/investigate current problems in the City of San Jose - gentrification/housing, transportation, energy efficiency/pollution, improving public services, etc. - look into local non-profits, city agencies, open data)
• Share with us a presentation of what you’ve researched at our next meeting (receive constructive feedback & advice on possible solutions - apps, data visualizations, public policy, new initiatives/campaigns, fundraisers, petitions)

Metrics of Success:

• see if there's an increase in members attending meetup group meetings over time

Tried this new format for our meetup on (July 28, 2016).

*Things That Worked:

• new members were able to quickly join a team that needed a skill set they had & start contributing (Open 311, Economic Dashboard, Graffiti project, Trash Pickup)

*Things That Need Improvement:

• some new members were interested in researching/investigating problems in City of San Jose, but most were frustrated that there weren't any new projects for them to start contributing (we need to have more projects in the pipeline - ask non-profits, public services agencies, etc.)

Hey Dan, there are a lot of project ideas available. Were these made available or presented as options to the new members?

Yea, Vivek & I presented this to them multiple times as well. I did walk around the room to see if they were checking them out. Nobody expressed interest on any of the ideas :/ maybe they need more time to look over everything and see what idea is best fit for them?
