Interview Our City Forest and document Processes #4

Find out what processes Our City Forest does in their weekly work and try to configure or develop a better solution for them. Currently they use a potentially unstable filemaker solution.

I've met with select OCF staff on two occasions so far. I've created a mock-up of the current FileMaker Pro front-end in this InVision project. OpenTreeMap accomplishes some of this already, but custom front-end code may need to be developed for filtering by planting/maintenance events (i.e. view those 42 trees planted at Saratoga Community Planting on MM/DD/YYYYTHH:MM).

Meetings

  1. 4-27-2017: Introduced to FileMaker Pro database at OCF office; acquired remote access; audio of meeting saved on personal Google Drive in a folder for this project.
  2. 5-9-2017: Observed database tasks assigned to AmeriCorps volunteers at OCF office; jotted down known bugs experienced on a regular basis (e.g. input field for # of Wood Stakes is not guaranteed to write to the database).
