Display Names #158

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

To describe displays names, its basically a cloak over the user name in
which you can set if you wish to change your so-called name once in a while

For example:
I am called by J J Williams, but wish to then be called by another name
without risking the change of a user name in which I could just do a simple
change to whatever I require such as J Williams.

It would be nice to see this implemented along with option to disable it
and extend its use.

No offense, but it's features like these that are just asking for trouble.
First off,
how often do you plan on changing your name? It would be far easier to nicely
ask the
admin to take care of that for you. Second, this is great for trolls who'll make
suck-comments and then hide behind a new name. And then there's all those
kiddies who
can't figure out if they want their names to be 'AlphaNeo' or 'ZypherOmega' or
some
other stupid shit.

This would be better as a mod.

Well since you recommend it to be as a modification, it would be best for the
modification to allow administrators / members of authority to view the plain
username without the cloak so-to-speak.

Would make more sense to have a name change history, but again it should be a
modification so it would be out of the scope of the core development of this
system.
