mtl-2.0.1.0 & ghc-7.0.1 compatibility changes #422

What steps will reproduce the problem?
 * try to install xmonad-contrib-0.9.1 with mtl-2.0.1.0 and base-4 (i.e. using ghc-7.0.1)

failure is due use State / Reader that replaced with state / reader in mtl 
2.0.1.0 (and has no equivalent in mtl 2.0.0.0 ) AND use old exception from 
base-3. changes for base4 /mtl-2.0.1.0 are trivial, patch attached
