Hi everyone, here are some possible tweets that we were brainstorming about to promote the responses to the candidate survey. Feedback is encouraged.

Also, we created a bit.ly for the responses: http://bit.ly/pvdsurvey2014

Here are the possible tweets: Cianci concerned about 'privacy implications' of releasing checkbook level financial data? (Topic 2) Harrop advocates almost doubling Providence IT Budget. (Topic 1) Elorza will develop key performance indicators within 30 days for all departments. (Topic 5)

Highlight notes from survey responses:

Harrop questions killing ProvStat.

Harrop criticizes unions fixing job descriptions.

Harrop says building permits and business licenses will be posted online.

Elorza wants all new vendors to be committed to automatically publish data to the City's Open Data Portal.

Elorza will develop key performance indicators within 30 days for all departments. He will measure our performance, commit to improvements over time, and transparently communicate our successes and challenges along the way.

Elorza will adopt the City’s first Open Data Policy within my first several months in office.

Elorza: It’s unacceptable that renewing an entertainment license or ordering a birth certificate requires a city resident to visit City Hall in person with a check or money order.

Cianci is committed to bringing Providence up to a level where we are on par with other cities in terms of investments in information technology.

Cianci will invest in technology to keep better records across departments.

Cianci: My administration will be heavily focused on eliminating waste in city departments, and information technology is a smart way to pinpoint waste.

Cianci: I will invest in training and development

Cianci: technology will allow us to identify waste and streamline processes that will lead to additional revenue

Cianci: I will bring in experts who can coordinate tracking of performance indicators across departments and and their respective staffs. Accountability is key, the residents of Providence are basically investors in our great city, and they deserve to be able to see how city departments are holding up when it comes to performance.

  1. Twitter will automatically shorten any URLs, but we should have a separate link to each candidate's responses.
  2. Elorza is referring to IT vendors, not all vendors, yes? That should be specified.
  3. Elorza second item mixes editorial voice with quote..."our successes"...go one way or the other. Reco: quote.
  4. Purely personal...seriously doubting Cianci's "experts". Who are they and what will they cost? How the hell does Cianci know what makes a person expert in this field. Great politician: knows what to says, but that's about it. Frymaster will almost certainly want to crack open Cianci's focus on waste in light of his sweep of union endorsements.

Good point Frymaster. Here's the draft of the second tweet:

Next PVD Mayor - How to Instill Culture of Learning? Candidates to focus on tech, waste, culture, and learning from other cities.

Sorry for the delayed response to your comments. Sure, Elorza means technology vendors and it should be specified.

We should now FOLLOW a number of journalists that might find these tweets interesting, now that the are at the top of our tweet history. Can you take care of that Frymaster?
