and better yet this that allows selecting middle category and showing relationship left and right : http://www.friendsofqueentheater.org/budget_sankey/examples/budget_alpha.html
I imagine we may add more options by year, proposed budget version, include programs+ expense type with additional levels to the right and may hover or be clickable for more detail

10 years ago I have great news. I have made changes to the snakey and it did not crash. It is also under an MIT license so we are free to use it. Here is a file of how the data needs to be formatted. Also note at the bottom of the file the keys are called in stacks so we can easily make this two columns until we have more data. I will push all the files to github later today.
