Should we still ask to also register so that we have more accurate counts for the reporting later?

Oh yes, I would do that. I forgot to add that to the intro: "please register if you haven't so we can track". But, you closed it so I added this phrasing.

Is it still in practice open but hidden?

It's still open only the button does not redirect. I will append to this PR.
