preparing for a codes 1.0 release (Imported #24) #24

Now that more external users are showing interest in codes, we need to get the repositories in a better shape. This involves writing "getting started" type of documents, getting a dist. tarball ready to go, filling in missing documentation in headers, and other miscellaneous cleaning up of the repos. This should culminate in a "1.0" release tarball that we can put up on the site. I'll be putting the individual tasks into different tickets.

The release is ready. Just waiting on a folder in ftp.mcs.anl.gov and I'll upload them, update the codes site, and send email notifications to all.
