Cannot play media files, both wmv or mkv #32

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. nothing. straight from restarting the programme

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
small windows appears saying "cannot open"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.1.1
OSX 10.9.5

it worked for months before, suddenly it does, I don't know what happened.
I reinstalled the app but it still doesn't work

p.s. it was later found out that the video files are to blame. previous video 
files can be played, just not the latest batch, though they played on other 
players alright. i converted them into mkv and they cannot be fastforwarded.
the question remains how senstive is Transcriptions towards less then perfect 
nevertheless legitimate vidoe files.
