I actually made this exact mistake quite recently when commenting on a solution to one of my own Kata. I only realized it the day after when the user who submitted his/her solution replied to my comment (and he/she didn't notice it and inform me either) so during that period of time, anyone who viewed my Discourse from my profile page would be able to solve part of that Kata involved. It would make more sense if comments on particular solutions are only visible to those having completed the Kata.

This is certainly preferable; a comment on any particular kata solution would typically pertain to that specific kata solution, and so seeing a comment on a kata solution without the necessary context would make little sense. Also it adds an extra layer to prevent spoilers from being leaked.
Why are comments/replies to solutions shown under the discourse tab at all? But if for some strange reason they are shown, why can't I read my own comments there? Oh, they are not shown, because they are marked as spoilers... and anyway, if someone has access to the solutions, he/she already completed or forfeited the kata... so what's the point?
But to be more constructive, here are my suggestions:
I would prefer the first 2 points, as simpler is usually better.
This is a suggestion:
At the moment, anyone can view a comment that's been posted in the solutions section of a given kata. The problem with this is that many comments for solutions reveal spoiler content but the poster does not mark the comment with the spoiler tag. This seems to indicate that many users are not aware that their comments are viewable by everyone, including CW users who have not completed the kata in question.
So I suggest having CW automatically tag any comments in a solutions section of a kata with a spoiler tag by default.
