Consider hosting source repositories on Codeberg.org #1341

Since this project aims to be more open and community centric than the SE sites and is open source, has anyone considered using codeberg.org to host the source repositories? They are a git hosting platform like Github but run by a non-profit, and are built on the open source Forgejo collaboration software (originally a fork of Gitea).

I've personally found Codeberg to be nearly a drop-in replacement for Github for my projects. [1] They are developing at a respectable pace and are growing in capability and reliability (and popularity). Plus with a focus on the community first, they match well with this project's culture. If fully migrating to a new platform is not desirable right now [2], then consider hosting mirrors on Codeberg. This way, more users may be able to discover this project and use it or contribute.

[1]: The only reason I haven't fully migrated yet is the tediousness involved in fixing links, configurations, etc. [2]: It does involve a bit of work, though there's migration tools to make it easier.

Full disclosure: I am a member of Codeberg e.V. Although most of our members choose not to disclose their affiliation, there are over 400 of us now. I joined during the MS aquisition of Github, back when Codeberg was just getting started, and we had around 40 people in the org then, and a few thousand users and repos. Now there's over 100k projects and that number is only increasing.

Also while I am a Codeberg member, I'm not representing Codeberg in any official capacity. I just think that this project would be a good fit for the site and community. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask me.
