Thumbnails of monochrome images contain color #79

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. load a monochrome image using ImageIO
2. something like: thumb = Thumbnails.of(img).scale(0.1).asBufferedImage();
3. save thumbnail using ImageIO

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The output should be monochrome as well but it is not. See attachments.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Which
version of Java (Sun/Oracle? OpenJDK?) ?

Oracle Java 8, Windows 8.1 tested both with thumbnailator 0.4.6 and 0.4.8

Please provide any additional information below.

The Thumbnailator project will move to GitHub due to the Google Project Hosting
