Blacklist users? #8

Hey, I was wondering if there'd be any way to add a field on the site somewhere so that a person could enter their username@instance and opt out of receiving messages from the tool?

It's not a big deal, it's just kind of annoying during these big migrations and the import follows tool does exist so some of us would rather just not get DM'd from this tool.

Not to mention the few times the tool has been used for evil. Image CW: US Politics, Caps. https://imgur.com/a/z5xcyyh

Anyway, it's cool if you don't wanna. tbh I never saw much in the way of an adverse reaction to the thing outside of myself and a couple friends. :woman_shrugging:

Sorry I didn't see this until today!

I'm not opposed to this but I'm not sure how to do this given the entire tool is client-side, so a blacklist isn't really feasible, or it would have to be publicly available, which is a privacy nightmare..

Another solution would be a marker on the profile like #nobots but that's really inelegant.

Honestly I think the #nobots-like solution would be the most elegant. The problem with having an opt-out list maintained on your end is now you're asking people to go to some other website and input their info. I received numerous mass-DMs before I learned what tool people were using to send them. I wouldn't've had the opportunity to add my name to the do-not-DM list.

@protospork then instead of finding out what tool it is, you'd have to find out what the magic word is, #noMigrationAnnouncements or whatever it would be, and have it on your profile just for this tool. I don't think that's better
