Not responding when resuming from sleep #53

Thank you for offering such a great app. I found an issue, reporting below.

My environment is Battery-Time-Remaining 1.6.1 on OS X 10.8.2

When Battery-Time-Remaining(BTR) is running my macbookair resumes from sleep ONLY IF the Power Source is changed for example, Power Source was "AC Power", and it went sleep, then resuming from sleep with the Power Source "Battery Power". Or vice versa.

I see that at the very time when I reopen the macbookair, the login screen is shown with the BTR Power Source icon is the old one whose before it went sleep. Then it takes about 10 seconds to get the latest status of the Power Source. During this, the rainbow wheel is spinning and I can't type my password to unlock.

So it's pretty annoying.

The fast resume is one of the important point of macbookair.

Thank you in advance for your work.

Thank you for reporting such a detailed report! unlike #50. Ill take a look into it.

Thank you for your pretty quick reply. I'm not good at English. So if you have any difficulties to understand what I wrote, please let me know. I hope this issue will be solved!

Hm, I cant reproduce this bug.

tsuga commented 11 years ago

Really? let me sort out.

PS shown in BTR : AC PS actual condition : AC (then I close MBA) Do nothing (then I re-open MBA) PS shown in BTR : AC PS actual condition : AC ==> bug not appear

PS shown in BTR : Battery PS actual condition : Battery (then I close MBA) Do nothing (then I re-open MBA) PS shown in BTR : Battery PS actual condition : Battery ==> bug not appear

PS shown in BTR : Battery PS actual condition : Battery (then I close MBA) I plug AC in. (then I re-open MBA) PS shown in BTR : Battery PS actual condition : AC then it stops responding with the rainbow wheel spinning for several seconds PS shown in BTR : Battery (updated) *then I get able to type my password to unlock/ ==> bug appear

PS shown in BTR : AC PS actual condition : AC (then I close MBA) I plug AC out. (then I re-open MBA) PS shown in BTR : AC PS actual condition : Battery then it stops responding with the rainbow wheel spinning for several seconds PS shown in BTR : AC (updated) *then I get able to type my password to unlock/ ==> bug appear

PS = Power Source ( AC/Battery ) BTR = Battery Time Remaining MBA = Macbook Air

If BTR makes any logfiles, I can post it here.

Oh, I got an idea that this bug might happen only if the battery got 100% charged during its sleep. Let me check whether this is correct or not, tonight.

tsuga commented 11 years ago

This morning, it happend again. and at this time, the pattern was "battery -> sleep -> battery"!! Please forget about the information when it happens or not above. I'm carefully reading the console log of OSX now

codler commented 11 years ago

Hm, I dont know how to find the problem if I cant reproduce this =/. Can you try close the app before going to sleep next time and see if it really is a problem in BTR.

tsuga commented 11 years ago

OK! I'll do it!

tsuga commented 11 years ago

I have stopped BTR for 1 week. I have never got across this issue. I guest this has something to do with BTR.

i have the same problem and I think it has something to do with your Helper process. My console is FULL of these:

com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[359]: (com.codler.Battery-Time-Remaining-Helper[685]) Exited with code: 1 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[359]: (com.codler.Battery-Time-Remaining-Helper) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

And then in 10 seconds, it starts again.
