I spent half of Sunday looking what was the problem, finally after enabling very verbose debugging found out that ESPHome behaviour.
As probably most users (like me before) use these proxies for passive devices like Xiaomi thermometers, they may have this active: false setting set. This behaviour for active devices, like Yeelock, is not documented anywhere, so I thought it might be useful to mention it in the documentation.
