Biotic index explanation #6

Open coeb1 opened 4 years ago

  1. Discussion on how to use the spreadsheet to generate hypothetical indicator scores for birds and frogs. Note, these scores are hypothetical because they are based on the IUCN Red List range maps. As the team mobilise more data and conducts field trips to verify the relationship between species presence and freshwater ecosystem condition, the accuracy of the scores can be revised. The policy brief is based on the Erasme' odonate data (which have been collected in the field and correlated against a habitat integrity index so have been proven to be accurate predictors of freshwater ecosystem integrity).

Recommendations

Team to have a practical demonstration with Matt to complete the hypothetical scores. (invitation for Tuesday 4th sent)

  1. @bakaplin is meeting with Laetitia on the National Wetland Management Plan and will discuss how the CoEB team can integrate the bio-indicator into the monitoring and evaluation section of the Management Plans. REMA asked for an M+E system based on water quality - so this is an opportunity to integrate the value of biodiversity data mobilization into the wetland monitoring and evaluation policies (alongside other indicators of water quality).

Recommendations:

@bakaplin to debrief team on these discussions. Team to use policy brief as the basis for incorporating text into the Management Pans
