I agree very much so on this front. Video game experiences are underrated and undervalued. There's so many free games nowadays that plenty of people have the audacity to say that perfectly fine games aren't even worth it when they're FREE! With how some indie games with 100+ hours of content and fully fleshed out stories cost less than $20, not even considering massive sales, how can us smaller part-time and bite-sized game devs expect to earn a living?
I myself plan to take a risk, by putting up my first game on Steam for likely $10 USD. It's a Brick Breaker with 30 levels, charming characters, upgrades and potentially an endless mode (TBD). Although many would likely deem it to be worth less, I'm staying hopeful that I can find a niche audience that will enjoy and support my endeavors.
