Illegible Plantower Data #4

The plantower is producing incredibly noisy PM data. When we take the median over intervals, we don't see problems, but the raw data is unintelligible. The YPOD did not have this issue, see here for the YPOD firmware https://github.com/pesm6540/ypod

readPMSdata() function in ypod and Adafruit_PM25AQI read() function in xpod, implements the same method to get the Planttower data.

Need to verify whether the ypod and xpod PMS hardware are same.

Percy, can you comment on this? We use the same sensor in the YPod and XPod but not sure about other factors.

Same sensor: these are the differences:

  1. Library instead of hard-coded into firmware (Simman checked this and verified that it's the same)
  2. YPOD uses an add-on configuration whereas the XPOD is integrated into the PCB
  3. Additionally, it is very possible that the XPOD will experience a higher amount of noise than the YPOD due to the number of traces and inputs
