Won't pair with Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant / GT-I9000M) #4

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Disabled firewall and antivirus on P.C.
2. Turn on "Share my library on my local network" in iTunes.
3. Turn on "require password" and set a 4-digit code.
4. Run RemoteTunes+ (2.0.4) on Samsung Galaxy S.
5. `Searching for network libraries` fails.
5. Manually enter LAN IP address of P.C.
6. Code is presented in tunesremote+.
7. No devices show up in iTunes.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect iTunes to ask me to enter the code that was presented in tunes remote.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using RemoteTunes+ (2.0.4) on Android 2.1 and iTunes 10.0.1.22 on Windows XP
SP3.

Please provide any additional information below.

OK when you do the Manual Pairing try and enter the code 0000000000000001

That is 15 0's and 1. See if that works.

I just uploaded 2.0.5 to the Market. Can you try pairing again?

Thanks for following up. I updated to v2.0.5, but unfortunately iTunes still
doesn't show the device or ask me for a code to pair with the Galaxy. (Used
pairing code 0000000000000001 in tunesRemote+)

OK then you have 1 of two problems.

1. Your Bonjour UDP port 5353 is being blocked by Firewall, Spyware, Virus
Scanner. Try turning ALL of them off temporarily.

2. Your Bonjour is not broadcasting from your PC properly. Download our free
app off the Market called ZeroConf Browser. THat shows you all your running
ZeroConf services. If nothing shows up it means that Bonjour packets (UDP
5353) are being blocked by your Windows XP Firewall, Virus Scanner, Spybots.
Or your router is blocking the traffic.

any update on this? Have you done the testing to see if your Bonjour is being
blocked?

I ran an app on my P.C. (the one running iTunes) called "Advanced Port Scanner"
and checked port 5353 and it's closed, even with the firewall and anti-virus
shut off. I checked the services and it shows the Bonjour service is running.
I haven't tried ZeroConf yet, but I imagine if that port is blocked, it would
show that Bonjour packets are being blocked. Any idea what else might be
blocking the packets? Thanks again for your assistance.

OK good debugging. Yes if 5353 UDP Multicast packets are being blocked it can
only mean that your PC is blocked there or somehow your router is filtering out
UDP Multicast packets as well. But until you get this resolved it explains
why tunesRemote+ is not able to pair with your PC.

I am going to assume this is not Samsung Galaxy related and close this ticket.
I believe it to be firewall Bonjour related. If you find out more info I will
definitely re-open the ticket.
