Blog links not working consistently #32

Open NigelKT opened 11 years ago

I have noticed a strange problem with the header links to individual posts. I'm running Joomla v2.5.8 and Wordpress v3.4.2

When I click a title to go to the individual post, a blank page is displayed with just the date but no content.

However, if I access that same post via the tags or categories list then come back to it in the “all posts” list I can then click through to the individual post.

There was a person with a similar problem in the extensions page but there doesn’t seem to be a ticket here.

Hi

Is there anything in your webserver or PHP error logs generated when you get the blank page?

Which version of the WordBridge plugin are you using?

Regards Vittal

I checked the error log after clicking a title link that lead to a blank page. The only thing that looked like it could be related (i.e. correct timing) were these two lines:

[Fri Dec 07 13:05:20 2012] [error] [client 66.249.73.129] Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error. Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace.

The site is running version 0.5 of Wordbridge. I downloaded it a couple days ago for the first time.

I also double checked the Wordpress syndication feeds was the same as the number of posts in the module in case that was the problem.

Any ideas?

Hi Nigel

Can you let me know what the URLs for your Joomla and WP sites are (mail vittal.aithal@cognidox.com if you'd prefer for them not to be listed in this ticket).

NigelKT commented 11 years ago

Thanks Vittal, the Joomla site is not public yet so I'll send that to your email.

Hi,

I work with Jommla 1.5 and wordbridge Besides all the good things there is one annoying issue. The title of the blog article is shown in the Joomla site as a link. This link is not a right one, because it points to a (not existing) article on the Joomla website instead of pointing to the article in Wordpress.

I need either of the two: the link directs to the WP-article or there is no link at all. I can't find any clues in the backend user interface to fix this faulty linking . . . . Can anyone help?

AesonAssemblage commented 11 years ago

And further more. The links to the mentioned category makes the same mistake, amd points to a non existing place on my joomla site. However the link to make comments is working properly and points to WP Please can anyone help?

Hi AesonAssemblage

Are you hosting WordPress yourself, or is your blog site on wordpress.com?

Could you post up the link to your Joomla site and WP site?

Thanks for the links - we'll try and replicate the problem here and see if we can determine a cause

Hi

We've had a look to see what is going on, and I suspect we are not properly caching the blog when it doesn't have a tagline set in WordPress.

If possible, can you set the Tagline entry for your WordPress blog (WordPress Admin -> Settings) and see if it helps resolve this issue.

joneichner commented 11 years ago

This is an awesome component! I am experiencing a similar issue. Using Joomla 2.5.9 and WP 3.5.1 hosting wordpress in a subdirectory.

"Read more" links do not work correctly. I keep getting the intro text to the Word Press post. example.com/index.php/post/8-blog#more-8

I've tried the tagline entry described above as well.

any help would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely Jombie

vittala commented 11 years ago

Hi Jombie

Can you provide the URLs where this is happening so we can see what you are seeing?

Regards Vittal

joneichner commented 11 years ago

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this. I know you must have tons of other things to do.

the URL is http://www.mongoosejunctionstjohn.com/newsite/

WP URL is http://mongoosejunctionstjohn.com/blog

My next step was to move the WordPress installation into a subfolder of /newsite

But WordPress was already installed when I was brought on board for this new site.

Thank you so much any advice is great appreciated!

vittala commented 11 years ago

Hi Jombie

I'm not sure what the problem is you're seeing.

If I browse to http://www.mongoosejunctionstjohn.com/newsite/index.php/post/blog?view=entries and click on the 'Read the rest of this entry" link, I go to http://www.mongoosejunctionstjohn.com/newsite/index.php/post/post/8-only-on-st-john#more-8 and my browser correctly scrolls down to the line starting "Is it the lack of traffic signals..."

The intro text is above this, but that is to be expected (same behaviour as WordPress normally gives you).

Hi,

I am having issues with my blogs transferring from wordpress over to my site correctly. The blogs transfer over just fine, but when you want to view that specific blog, it will direct me to an incorrect blog.

http://www.caltronind.com/caltron-blogs

I noticed that for the blogs that do work, there is a number in front of the tagline.
i.e. http://www.caltronind.com/caltron-blogs/post/-what-is-bnc if there is no number in front of the blog tagline, then it will default me to specific pages, like the "What is BNC?" page for example.

Is there a simple fix to this? Please help.
