refactor of the GeneSearchService to remove unnecessary GeneResourceFactory dependency
- simplifies search logic

Style tweaks to:

Global Nav
Disease Cards

@dhimmel waiting until I can get all the circleci stuff to pass before merge. @cgreene @awm33 it looks like it's a SauceLabs issue again, could you take a look at the most recent builds and see if you tell what's up?

It seems like it's timing out with the SauceConnect tunnel connection but none of the settings have changed so I don't know why.
