Happy to grab this.
I'd like us to use some kind of open format for diagrams like this as I'm concerned that use of proprietary software like OmniGraffle may limit participation. Is there anything better than dot
or am I stuck with it? Alternately, am I overthinking my participation concern?
I mean i would prefer a hand drawn sketch or something so we know its throwaway able instead of expecting to go back and modify it

I am almost 100% sure you are not stuck with dot
. Testing out open source flowchart software is exactly the sort of thing I'd be doing on my own time anyway, so let me know if you have any big wants or do not wants and I'll see what I can find.
If you don't want to wait for me, I agree with Zee about the feel of a hand drawn sketch.
Looks great! Can we get this into the repo under /design
or /doc
or something? (Or is doc
reserved by yard
?)
Also may want to take pictures closer up of the different sections, so that it's a touch easier to read at lower resolution.
There's probably some miscommunications between all of us about how the system should work. @bhaibel - if you want to take a swag at drawing a system diagram it may be useful to have that before we open-source and start soliciting contributions.
The questions that may be most useful to answer in the short term are:
Thoughts @bhaibel / @emdashbuck / @jtu0 ?
