Thanks for the pull-request. I have some problems with it:

The minor one: It solves two issues, while the subject is only about one issue.
More important: I've already worked on coherence/log.py for using std-lib logging. This change reverts most of this work. I would appreciate if you'd fix this instead of bringing back old code. Thanks.

I don't know why the second commit also went into this pull request. That wasn't intended.

The problem with the current and reworked logger is, that it doesn't work at all. That means that the git release is currently dysfunctional.
