Transparancy problem if background has text or images #9

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a browser and go to a website with text or something else
2. launch c-a-m

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The glyph c-a-m layer should have less transparency, so that the glyph is
good to see. Now the glyph has too much transparency, so the background is
shining trough.

Please provide any additional information below.
I like the way gnome-do launcher looks like. It has less transparency and
has different theme to select.

An option to set the transparency or color of the background would be great
for now to customize it for different workplaces.

I have play around with transparency and the colors of the cam menu.
Here you can see a mod of the menu:

.png

I use less transparency and set the background color to grey. The rollover is
white
with a bit transparency. In compiz manager i have turn blur windows with the
focus
blur option on. So It looks better and it's readable on a desktop with
text or pictures. The blur option of the cam seems not to work. I can't see any
changes.

What i still don't like is the transparent spacer between the "segments". This
space
should have a background color too. (Maybe for the whole menu.) So it doesn't
look
edgy anymore.

Here is another version of the cam without the transparent spacer between the
circular separator. I think this looks much better then the version before.

I noticed that the space of the circular separator has different spaces. Now in
this
version you don't see it directly, because i have set a negative offset to
remove the
spaces. It's just a workaround.

I'm going to stick all the settings in gconf using the following api soon..

http://library.gnome.org/devel/gconf/2.20/gconf-gconf.html

...and do away with the command line arguments.

It should make it easier to write a options panel in the future.

I'll add an option to specify the separator width and an over-all background
colour.

On my machine the blur option did have an effect. Maybe its not needed if you
can do
this via the compiz settings. I'll have a play and will take it out if its not
needed. Thank you.

For theme specific bits I'm going to read from a 'themename.theme ' named file
which
will reside under ~/username/.circular-application-menu/

These will contain colours, line widths, emblem paths and transparency settings
as
these are theme specific. A gconf value will be added to specify what theme
will be
used.
This way people easily distribute and update settings to fit into their
desktop/distro.

The other non theme settings will be in gconf to change.

Thank you for the quick reply. That sounds great Cole. These features will
improved
cam a lot and make it more usable. I have read in comments, that many users
missed
that to theme.
