keyboard.press_key doesn't work

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create this Autokey script attached to any hotkey:

<code>
keyboard.press_key("<ctrl>")
mouse.click_relative(0,0,1)
keyboard.release_key("<ctrl>")
</code>

2. Trigger the hotkey in any window.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Only the mouse click is done. Ctrl is not pressed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

AutoKey 0.81.4 on Kubuntu 11.10

Need to add methods to fake_keydown and fake_keyup as press_key/release_key 
won't work for modifier keys

On reviewing the code, keyboard.press_key is already using xtest to fake the 
keypress as best possible. Nothing further can be done I'm afraid.
