It is pretty standard to indicate exectuable commands like this. a #
would mean it should be run in a root shell.
Agree 100% that it is standard. But IMO, the '$' hardly adds value. The context/rendering makes it clear that it is a command to be copy-pasted.

Removing the '$' in the documented curl command. When using the copy icon on the right, the dollar sign also gets pasted into the terminal.
