app to force flashing of baseband #17

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. ran virginizer on 1.0.2 (never update to 1.1.1 before) -> "FW differences"
2. tried to downgrade baseband (ieraser, bbupdater -f ICE...fls -e ICE..eep)
3. baseband is empty
4. running bbupdater -v doesn't give a modem version
5. no call, no wifi, no bluetooth, no sound, no imei

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
running bbupdater -v doesn't give a modem version
1) tried restoring to firmware 1.0.2 .. then run bbupdater -v -> same result
2) restore to firmware 1.1.1, then downgraded, run bbupdater -v -> same result
3) run ieraser, run bbupdater -f ICE..fls -e ICE..eep, bbupdater -v -> EEP
check sum error (tried different EEP sources)
4) run bbupdater -f ICE... fls -> .FLS failed download

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
current on 1.0.2

Please provide any additional information below.

baseband seems to be empty, and unable to load new baseband using bbupdater
will be helpful if elite dev team can come up with something that force
flash baseband on it rather than having a checksum to verify. not sure
where the checksum comes from. i understand that bbupdater is an apple
software, but is it possible to make a 3rd party flasher?

there are other ppl with the same problem as me after trying out virginizer
and failed. got in deeper trying to fix it. Hope there can be a solution.
thank you

I tried using the Launchctl App and selected "stop" instead of "unload -w".
After
that bbupdater gave problem saying too old..I tried to restore and from that
point
restore started failing with 1011. I could bring the "phone" back from a brick

the
same symptoms, nothing works. I get stuck when i run ieraser it starts
perfectly but
it keeps rolling forever throwing characters and 0s forever one time i left it
for 24
hours straight. After i do this bbupdater doesnt give a modem version but the
rapair
needed message no longer appears. I think what we need is something that
absolutely
erases the baseband so it can be reflashed.

Having the same problems as posted above. No radio (gsm, bt, wifi, etc.) tried
everything with no luck. It looks like the basebad got partially erased and
cannot
erase fully with ieraser. bbupdated does not work at all. Also get the
message "repair needed...".

I am truly desperate now. I have unlocked over 10 iphones without a hitch and
now
this.

The problem BTW originated after succesfully unlocking with Anysim 1.1. The app
ran
OK then i rebooted and lost radio.

Pls advise. Thank you!

Have to restore fw down to 1.0.2 or up to 1.1.1, if the gsm board is working,
the
radio version must come back again.

My phone from 1.0.2 working by anySim 1.0.2. I upgrade to 1.1.1 (no
re-virigine). Get
bad IMEI. Wifi still work. Modem firmware show 4.01_G. Had tried restore,
re-virgine,
upgrade, ect. but not luck.

I did the link: hxxp :// www. hacktheiphone .com /111 /iphone_step1_windows
.html.
It's work but still no WIFI, show bad IMEI when I insert any SIM cards. I'd ran
anySim 1.1 (download from upper link). It show:" your iphone has been
active...". BUT
when I restart my iPhone, warning like that "Need repairs, contact
apple.com/support"
My phone have no IMEI, CCID, WIFI, BLUETOOTH, neither SOUND. I thought I need
to send
to apple to fix it.

At last, I did folow these links:
1-hxxp: // hackint0sh .org /forum /showthread .php?t =13255& page=1
and
2-hxxp :// code. google .com / p / iphone -elite /issues /detail? id=15

Now my iPhone work better b4.

Hello everybody,

I guess my problem is the same as honcheng. I had a 1.0.2 iPhone unlocked and
working for about a month. When the 1.1.1 firmware came out I googled then
followed
this guide: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13170 to virginize
it.
The whole process ocurred without errors. The only thing was that I didn't
backup my
seczone.
After that I restored it with iTunes to 1.1.1 firmware and followed the guide
from:
http://iphone.unlock.no/
After that I had a 1.1.1 unlocked iPhone working as it should, making calls,
videos
wifi, everything. I was so happy that I didin't check if my IMEI was correct or
not.
The day after, when I woke up I had the Repair needed message on it, and had no
wifi, no phone, etc. I thought it was I simple question of redoing everything
but it
didn't happen. I tried to restore the 1.1.1 firmware with iTunes but I kept
getting
an error message at the end. So I tried to downgrade to 1.0.2 and the error
continued, which in my case was the 1011. After googling I found out that it
was
just a matter of downgrading the baseband, so I followed this guide:
http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14623
which of course didn't work.
After running iBrickr, installing Mobile Terminal and BSD Subsystem, uploading
the
files epp, fls, secpack, ieraser and bbupdater. I started the process. The
first
step is to kill the commCenter process. I couldn't get it to die so I deleted
it and
restarted the phone. The second step is to check the baseband, and the output
from ./bbupdater -v, since the first time I tried, was:
baseband unresponsive to pinging
and it should be either the 3.14 or the 4.03 right? So I thought, ok there must
be
garbage on it I just have to go to next step: ./ieraser
And it came with the Waiting for data screen. After trying and trying,
different
secpacks and different sources, always the same error.
Then I thought, OK it is probably, some how, already empty. So I tried to
reflash
the baseband with ./bbupdater -f ICE...fls -e ICE...eep and the Resetting
target 10
attempts came with the bootloader too old try version 1.8 or higher.
I did the whole process many times from the 1.0.2 iTunes restore and nothing.
Always
the same errors.

Is there a way out? Force reflash the baseband? Since I haven't backed up my
seczone
the first time is it possible to recover? Is it true that there is a unique
part of
the baseband that must not be messed up or erased?

I have this problem aswell. Tried everything, different updates, restores many
firmwares, nothing worked. So I decided to go 1.0.2 and complete the procedure
with
ieraser and bbupdater. Ieraser is always stuck at "waiting for data" wheras
bbupdater doesn't show FW version ("baseband unresponsive to pinging"), and
forcing
updtae with any of the FLS files results in bootloader beeing to old problem.
It once happen to me to succesfully get my IMEI and wifi UP, insted of flat
bars i
had NO SIM caption in corner and I was able to find my home wifi network
(without
beeing able to connect to it, though). Because it was 1.0.2 I cheerfully wanted
to
restore to 1.1.1 in order to JB, activate and tun any kind of Vrginiztaer, just
to
get my BB back. As a result, after update my IMEI was uknown again and I
couldn't
get it to the state of usability. Right now I simply got iPod touch without
wifi on
1.0.2.

I have totally the same problem like honcheng. No IMEI, No CCID, No Wifi, No
Signal,
Repair needed and No Speaker sound.

The baseband is empty and bbupdater fails to reflash it, resulted the checksum
error.

Totally agree that it will be VERY helpful if elite dev team can come up with
something that force flash baseband on it rather than having a checksum to
verify.

This issue has been around for quite sometime...since Sep-Oct 2007, until now
Jan'08
still.. No one is able to come up with the 'forced baseband flasher' ....

I have the same problem, no IMEI no WIFI, need repair. I have a 1.02 phone that
was
unlocked, tried to restore to a 1.1.1 without verginising, thus the problem
ocured.
I have tried every thing mentioned, nothing works.

My status so far:

when I run the bbupdater -f *.fls, I get an endless loop.

When I run the bbupdater -l, I get a iphone bbupdater -l failed to download
.fls:
could not verify downloaded image.

when I run the bbupdated -e *.eep, I get a message saying upgrade from YYYYY or
some
strange characters.

When I try to restore the iphone again (using the ibrickr, DFU mode, itunes
technique), it starts the restore process then never ends at the "restoring
iphone
firmware" phase of the itunes. After a long time (30 min +), itunes gives me an
unknown error occured (1002) message and the yellow triangle is on the iphone.
I
then activate and jailbreak it using apptappinstaller and PACAY.

Then I install all needed files (Terminal, BSD 1.5, Uictl through the ibrickr
pxl
technique.

Any help would be appreciated.

Apple has released the 1.1.3 firmware that fixes this problem. Make sure you
have
iTunes version earlier than 7.5, -> 7.4.xx. DFU restore to 1.1.3 than it gives
an
error and stays on the connect to iTunes screen. DFU restore to 1.0.2 and it
gives
the yellow triangle. After that, jailbreak activate it and it should work, if it
doesn't, do it again.

Cheers

I tried with iTunes 7.6 and it didn't work. I read somewhere that it would not

Anyone else has succeded with Luciano's solution?

It doesn't work for me :( This is what I did step by step from a 1.0.2 OTB phone
having this problem with iTunes 7.4.3:
1) From 1.0.2 -> DFU -> Restore to 1.1.3
Resulted in Error 1011 and the 'connect to iTunes' restore screen

2) 'connect to iTunes' restore screen -> DFU -> Restore to 1.0.2
Resulted in Error 1011 and the 'yellow triangle' restore screen

3) Run iBrickr or AppInstaller to bring to the activation screen
   Resulted in still 'Repair Needed'

I repeated those steps so many times with the hopes of it working at some point.
Needless to stay, it still doesn't work :(

Can anyone post a step by step dummy proof procedure on this 'upgrade to 1.1.3'
solution?

Thanks

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Since I tried doing it with iTunes 7.6, maybe that's what is missing. Maybe
only
iTunes 7.6 is capable of recovering with the 1.1.3 firmware, and only with
iTunes
7.4.3 is possible to continue the process. So, try first doing everything with
7.6,
then try doing everything with 7.4.3 again to see what happens

hey guys 2 years..... um this virginizer thing maybe what I need to fix my
iPhone 3G but it isn't compatible....

There's a 100-page thread on Apple Forums or somethin and they have the No WiFi
issues like I do but I'm
researching stuff and found out these No WiFi scenerios is just like what
happened 2 years ago.... except now
Apple is the cause not through jailbreaking or unlocking. They rushed the 3.1
update to install 5.11 baseband
as quick as possible

What I am trying to do?
Force a reinstall of the baseband since there's no newer baseband yet and
bbupdater doesnt reinstall the
