[ ] 1. Extract tehsil-level aggregate data from 1998 census
[ ] 2. Create key file matching 1998 and 2017 aggregate administrative area population figures
[ ] 3. Merge 1998 and 2017 census data into consolidated dataset at tehsil aggregate level to compare population trends
[ ] 4. Obtain GIS shapefiles for 1998 administrative boundaries if possible

Does https://github.com/pkgeography/pk-census help towards 1 and 4?

Thanks for the pointer - it could be useful, but on quick scan looks like that is only at the district rather than tehsil level? Would ideally want to get more granular than that. PBS has released the 1998 tehsil data, but I don't yet have a key matching those boundaries to current boundaries, and don't have 1998 shapefiles.

I see. I think I can help with 1,2 and 3. It would be simpler for me to use the web version of Tabula though. Is that fine or would you prefer having the code to replicate the data scraping?

Sorry for the belated response on this. I guess my first preference would be something reproducible but if that's not doable, having the data is better than none.
