Use Notifications API for informing users of events, posts, etc. #23

This is in Webkit and a Firefox extension adds it there. Official Firefox support is unlikely to arrive before Firefox 5.

Superceded by #63, influenced by this comment saying that the UX for the Notifications API basically sucks.
