HI I'm working on a new extension to import all Magento Products to MongoDB. I hope so, that my product queries run much faster. What is your project for? Could it be useful for my issue? Could be my project helpful for you?

Yes it could be useful as it is a general-purpose abstraction layer similar to the MySQL abstraction layer.
