It does to many of us, absolutely. Yet minus brackets, quotes & commas. It just may not be as intimidating for new submissions for part of the community. YAML is everywhere on GitHub. Just an idea that popped into my mind as a test that may end up taking some workload off of everyone.
I like this idea. It's not a huge value add, but would make it a tad easier and more readable. It would require updating this desalinize call to support yaml.
Okay, I’ve permalinked to it so I can check it out later this evening. Thank-you.
EDIT 03-14: I began by cloning your repo & using a private repo in GitLab with a barebones .net framework installed in a Kubernetes instance to get a feel for .cs. Quickly discovering I’d need at least mono on my desktop to play around with, I went ahead and installed a meta package that includes the open source MSVB that’s available straight from Debian. I want not just to offer an idea like I did but be able to actually help implement it by offering a solution. What I came across today was Yaml.net via Unity’s community. The coder is right here on GitHub; the specific repo is YamlDotNet. There’s got to be a way to automate this without having to alter your own code, so I’m going to keep studying this because that’s what I do, enjoying it every step of the way.
EDIT 03.17.2019 : Too many difficulties with the Debian mono package, well, too many problems understanding compiling for .NET. So, as much as I dislike saying this - I give up. Now, I’m sure Collin perhaps has an easy fix. If so, I’d be glad to run some tests via my GitLab setup, unless anyone has a better option. I’m very open to ideas / feedback at this point.
Closing as won't fix. Not worth the cost as a lot would need to change. Would rather invest that time into #372 .
It occurred to me that if there is a way to automate the listing process / ease the process for those submitting new or updated info, perhaps a YAML file that receives pull requests each in YAML format which is visually simpler than using JSON format, then maybe it could be a feature to test in a branch designated specifically for a testing period of (n)days until it’s decided to incorporate it, albeit freshly begun, into the master branch or not.
Example files:
JSON
YAML
