here's a quick fix
Option 1:
Option 2:
In design having a call to action
vs enabling people to do that action
are 2 things that yield different results. Having a CTA always outperforms enabling.
This means that if we have a copy
button. or Invite friends
text players on average will be more likely to take those actions and invite people.
Thus Option 2 is a no go. Since it'll decrease our growth rate.
Option 1 still feels off. I wouldn't want to remove Invite Friends
words in favor of simplicity.
Agree that having a CTA has a higher impact.
Given the context create room, main goal is to create room, sub goal is to invite friends. Players who create a room have the intention of:
Sharing link would be applicable to case 1 in which they already have the intention of playing with their friends, where they would naturally look for the button/icon to share link
So having a CTA or not would not have a drastic difference since the intent is already there, but it might help them look for the button faster (if that's what you are trying to say)
Either way, this problem isn't critical for us to change the current layout, so we can keep it as it is for now.
Description
Currently:
Room ID is less useful on web, compared to mobile. Only thing we can do with room ID is, share it with a friend who is playing on mobile. Also, its easier to share URL with them, and they join by clicking the URL
On Web, only way to join rooms is by pasting room URL. Invite friends section might be taking more space than the amount of space it actually requires. Shown in below ss:![bda92ad458b6ca1092ee8eb8749c5426](https://github.com/colonistio/design/assets/56355527/88fa72d4-9f4d-42cd-a003-f62017dc9f8a)
Ideally, the 'Invite Friends' section shouldn't be nested in the game settings. However, relocating it would likely require more refactoring than the potential benefit
