cron job to backup the PostgreSQL/ PostGIS database

suggested/ possible backup strategy for the database: every week: monday, 3am (CET) --> full backup + removing all older backups every day (except monday): 3am (CET) --> only backup changes from last day

using cron job / DB DUMP

the Colouring Dresden is currently hosted on a Ubuntu virtual machine at the IOR Dresden, Germany (not external hosted)

• ich habe bereits einen täglichen cron-job um 04:30 Uhr für das Backup der Datenbank 'test.db' laufen
• es werden derzeit immer die letzten 3 Tage vorgehalten und weggesichert
• wir sollten vor dem offiziellen Release mal das restore testen

• I already have a daily cron-job running at 04:30 for the backup of the database 'test.db'.
• currently the last 3 days are always kept and backed up
• we should test the restore before the official release

additional notes after a meeting:

current raw size of db (15.02.2023): approx. 3.2 GB size of DB Dump binary compressed: approx. 600 MB

including building footprint data for whole Saxony state, not only Dresden
